Bridging the gap between knowing mold exists and discovering exactly where it is hiding: non-invasively, accurately, and compassionately.
Founders Hadi & Sage Ali started Canine Scent Inspections after witnessing firsthand how conventional mold inspections often leave property owners with unanswered questions. Standard air spore pumps and visual walk-throughs frequently miss mold colonies trapped inside drywall, under subfloors, or deep within crawlspaces.
Determined to find a better way, Hadi trained extensively as a K9 handler. By imprinting detection dogs on live microbial volatile organic compounds (MVOCs), CSI provides non-invasive scent searches that help narrow areas of concern without destructive demolition. Snow and Otis are certified mold detection canines, each certified as a handler-dog team with Hadi and Sage through Rival K9's Mold Detection Dog Program. Their trainer, Russ Bishop, is a former police K9 handler certified through the Utah P.O.S.T. K-9 Program and a P.O.S.T.-credentialed instructor. Rival K9 trains detection dogs for law enforcement, military, and private work.
Our working dogs undergo rigorous, ongoing maintenance training. This ensures high specificity, meaning our dogs discriminate active mold from household odors, dirt, or inactive dead spores.
